After the magical experience of our stay at one of Bolt Farm's Luxury Honeymoon Treehouses, we decided to cap off our 13th anniversary trip with a visit to the charming town of Highlands, North Carolina. Highlands, with its cooler July temperatures—about 10 degrees cooler than Chattanooga, and much more refreshing compared to our home in Florida—proved to be the perfect destination for our romantic getaway.
We stayed at the enchanting Half Mile Farm, a place that felt like it was straight out of a fairy tale. Our mornings began with their amazing catered breakfast, featuring farm-fresh ingredients that energized us for the day's adventures. The tranquility of the farm, combined with the serenity of the surrounding nature, set the perfect tone for our mornings.
One of the highlights of our stay was our dinner at Madison’s. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary, with each course perfectly paired with top-notch wine. The flavors, the ambiance, and the exceptional service made it a night to remember.
For lunch, we indulged in some amazing BBQ while sitting on the patio at the Smoke House. The smoky flavors, tender meats, and the rustic charm of the place made for a delightful and relaxing meal.
Highlands isn’t just about great food; it’s also a haven for art lovers. We visited a local art gallery, where we spent hours admiring the beautiful and diverse collection of artworks. The creativity and talent on display were truly inspiring.
Of course, no trip would be complete without a bit of photography. We spent our mornings capturing the stunning landscapes, from the misty mountain views to the lush greenery. The cooler weather made our photography sessions even more enjoyable, allowing us to take our time and truly immerse ourselves in the beauty around us.
During the day, we embraced the natural beauty of the area by hiking to some of the local waterfalls. The trails were invigorating, and each waterfall was a reward, offering breathtaking views and the soothing sound of cascading water.
